From Dr. Jason Howell
As this year comes to an end, I would like to reflect on where we were nine months ago and where we are today.
We have experienced perhaps the most difficult year in dentistry of all time. We have faced fear, worry, and anxiety on a weekly and sometimes hourly basis.
We have seen jobs lost, practices closed, and some of our team members leave the dental profession completely.
However, as I write this, today I see resilience, grit, and hope.
We need our Spark community. We need leadership and guidance within our offices.
But perhaps now more than ever, we need empathy, gratitude, and humility. Empathy to understand and share the feelings of another individual, our team members, and patients. Gratitude for the blessings we have today. And humility not to think less of ourselves but to think of ourselves less often.
We need to take the time to thank our teams for their hard work and dedication to us, each other, and our patients. We need to thank our patients for returning to our practices and having faith and trust in us as dental professionals to care for them and keep them safe.
We have made it through this crisis of 2020 and a new year is on the horizon full of possibilities.
Practicing empathy, gratitude and humility on a daily basis will lead us to and through an amazing 2021!
