Employee wages should not be viewed in a vacuum, but rather as a comprehensive package. It’s common to look at an hourly or annual wage for an employee to determine if they are adequately compensated in the realm of your organizational structure.

Over the last year, as virtual meetings became the norm, I started to notice myself growing fatigued and realized on some days I was not nearly as productive as I needed to be. It’s not unusual to have 7-8 hours of back-to-back video conferences without as much as a five-minute break in between. There were days when my to-do list was longer at the end of the day than it was at the beginning. 

As an owner or executive, there’s nothing better than watching your dental organization grow and expand. But for employees, the growth and change can feel stressful and disruptive. Growth and expansion is far more enjoyable when everyone in the office is on board and engaged and you can all celebrate the accomplishments together.

If you don’t have enough capacity in your organization, you can’t grow. The problem is that most dental practices aren’t aware of their capacity problems, so the issues go unchecked and the practice stays stuck. This is when you’ll see an organization that has hit a growth plateau.
